Question:
How are you coping with your wife’s disappearance?

We have our arguments but that’s normal in a marriage, she sometimes over reacts with things and say I’m acting different but I just move past that and eventually we make up because we both love each other very much.
Question:

Answer:
Well it sounds weird but I know that I can see ghost-like figures and when I tell her about them she screams at me and that’s normally what are fights are about.
Question:
What are these “ghost-like figures” doing?
Answer:
They haven’t done anything harmful but they just hover round and run past me and if I’m being honest they scare me sometimes but I just ignore them. Sometimes it gets too much and that’s when I decide to tell my wife.

Planning film opening

I am working with Natasha for my film opening and we have decided to base it in the mansion. a husband is going to go inside the a hospital where there is a sign that says 'clear vie, psychiatric private hospital' he is trying to find out where his wife is because she has gone missing. it then shows him texting his wife because he cant find her. there is a flashback to he discussion of his wife and him talking about her job interview that she is going to. when he enters the mansion there are supernatural ghosts running round. there is then a twist of him seeing a letter on a pile of newspapers that are to the hospital from his wife saying that she needs to come and see if there is a space for her husband because he is mentally ill.

Homework

Q. 3 Discuss the representations in the extract.
Refer to stereotypes in your answer.
Use examples from the extract.
You might consider the representation of

gender: there are 2 spies in the extract, one female and one male.they are represented in different ways as the women is represented in the way where she is adventerous which is not the stereotypical woman. the man on the other hand is very stereotypical as he jumps off cliffs and has guns.

race and nationality:

love and marriage: it says in the extract that they get married and they have 2 kids which means that they obviously love each other and so you think they are a stereotypical family but then on the other hand they are the complete different to a stereotypical family as the parents are spies.

spies: they are very stereotypical spies as they have guns and cool gadgets to show this. they are also very clever as they know where and when people are and what they are doing. they also knew exactly what to do when the invasion happened because they are trained to know.

homeworkon articles for Charlie

- The Charlie brand, which in its heyday was aimed at 11- to 18-year-old girls, was the market leader in the 70s.

- Charlie came out in 1973 and was marketed toward the young, single, pants-wearing, tequila-sunrise-drinking working woman. While Charlie was under construction, its working name was "Cosmo", after the sort of woman who read Cosmopolitan magazine. According to Osmoz, Charlie's top notes are citrus oils, peach, hyacinth, and tarragon; its heart notes are jasmine, lily of the valley, cyclamen, and carnation; and its base is cedarwood, sandalwood, oakmoss, and vanilla. Osmoz describes Charlie as a floral oriental, but I've also seen it referred to as a green floral, or even as a green chypre.

- The perfume can wake up memories that might have otherwise slept for good.

Luminous fabrics, the awakening of a sun Goddess. she is bathed in sunlight
Thierry Mugler's Alien offers women the chance to become as radiant as the woman represented. The central figure is depicted as a sun goddess who draws her power from the radiance of the sun. The setting is a traditional ancient temple set in the desert and as the eclipse allows the light of the sun to pour through the roof space, the goddess becomes incandescent with its glowing light. The light is beamed into the bottle of Alien and the message to the target buyer is that she too can look as glorious and as beautiful as the sun goddess does.

wanted to symbolize transformation
Using an eclipse in the opening immediately gives the impression that something exciting and other worldly ("Alien") is about to happen because eclipses are very rare so you know before you even see the main part of the advert that it is going to be about something unusual. This fits in well with the representation of the woman as a sun goddess who draws her exotic power from the sun.

they wanted to depict metamorphosis
The building is very unusual looking, almost other-worldly, set in the middle of nowhere. It looks like a temple that a sun goddess might worship in. The architecture of the building both monumental and futuristic. It is big and impressive, with 6 free standing pillars surrounding a central domed temple, with a central skylight in the dome through which the light of sun pours in. The building is oriental like The Blue Mosque in Istanbul.Inside, it is dark and mysterious with light coming from one central point and falling in a star shape, which contributes to the overall representation of a goddess in her celestial role as giver of radiant light. I found the interior architecture very interesting and i researched both western and middle eastern styles in religious buildings. As a result i found that Mugler's Alien uses both styles which would allow it to sell to both western and eastern audiences with their distinctive heritages and traditions.
about wakening

At the center of this advertisement is the representation of the woman. She appears as a statuesque
This shows the light coming down onto the women her hands are up which is inviting the perfume down to her hands. This resembles the act that the perfume is royalty and will enter your hands.
This is where she is holding the perfume and her whole body lights up and this shows that if you wear this perfume or buy this perfume you will light up with joy and will look and feel like this women.

This is the perfume bottle, the bottle is futuristic which shows that it is called alien. It is glass and purple with a gold nozzle and a rim of gold. The fact that the nozzle is gold shows royalty, also the women is dressed in gold and the whole room is gold. This makes the bottle and the scene match.

This shows the bottle floating above her (this is what a alien does, does not touch the floor or hand) you can also see her face is very serious and shows that she s being brought forward and is, herself floating above the floor.

This is the end of the advert and you can see the perfume up in close up and also the women is at the center of the picture to show you are suppose to be looking at her. The looks very royal and has her hands out, it says the name of the perfume on the side then on the other side is the actual perfume.

This advert shows the perfume emerging through the ceiling of this amazing building then entering the lady's hand but without touching her and then bringing her closer to the screen. The message of Alien  is that if you wear this perfume you will be as goddess-like, beautiful and as powerful as the sun goddess.

Charlie by Revlon (print1970s)

The representation of the woman in this advert is arises out of its historic period.Young, working women were set as the target audience, and the ads were said to represent the "new woman" of the era. The 1970s woman was

The Charlie brand, which in its heyday was aimed at 11- to 18-year-old girls, was the market leader in the 70s.
Launched in 1973, the brand became a global success, and featured actress Shelley Hack, Tiffany Welles in the 'Charlie's Angels' TV series, as the face of the brand.

This fragrance does not use a typical skinny, large breasted, long haired, super model, it uses someone that you could see when you walk down the street. she is not wearing a really tight dress to try and attract men, she is wearing, almost men clothes, but trousers and she has short hair. this represents her as not being eye-candy to the men but to appeal to woman to wear what they want to wear not what they think men will want them to wear.

B321 analytical assignment- a comparison of the representation of woman in fragrance advertisement from the 1920s, 2012,

I have chosen to compare three different advertisements that cover a range of representations- xxxxxxxx Vivauduo (print 1920s), Alien (Thierry Mugler, television advert 2012)

Vivadou creams and powders (print, 1920)

The central representation of the advertisement of a woman who is sophisticated, glamorous and sensual and who is applying Vivaudou talcum powder and cream on her decolletƩ Her body posture shows that she is enjoying the sensation of putting on the cream and it is soothing her. This is shown by her face being tilted upwards and her wearing a lot of make-up and expensive jewellery. She has got her hands on her bare breasts to sow she is putting the cream on.

The fur that the lady is wearing is a symbol of her glamor, wealth and sensuality. It is now illegal to kill animals for their fur, so this helps the wearer of the perfume realize that this print advert is from a long time ago. Only the richest people can afford real animal fur. She has pushed the fur coat off her back to show she is so glamorous and is relishing the fact she is putting all the cream and powder on her body. Her eyes are closed and her head is tilted back to show that she is in a dream and revelry.

The representation of the woman is partly constructed through striking use of densely saturated colour, with red and black predominating. The red emphasizes the passion of the cream and powder and the black emphasizes wealth. This is also the colour of the cream and powders she is using on her decolletƩ.

In comparison to my television advert, Alien this is the same, in ways that the woman is the central person. In Alien the woman is represented as a goddess but in this the woman is represented as glamorous and sensual.  Also Alien is set in the future and has very high technology therefore it could not have been made when this advert was made (1920).

Media fragrance 2

I am thinking of doing something different to my first fragrance. I might do something in the woods with a girl leaning against an oak tree. I will get my friend to model for it when I do it. It can be called:

  • -      Oak – let your inner nature out.
  • -      Nature- let all your nature out

I will also do it in the forests by my house.

Media cover work

notes on the extract master and commander

  • ·         Fast movement
  • ·         Silence creates suspense
  • ·         Silence ended by loud cannon noises.
  • ·         Several close up shots
  • ·         Explosion makes some of the boat destroyed
  • ·         Establishing shot of the boat
  1.   The extracts typically an historical AA genre as you can feel the suspense when everything goes silent, then you see a bright light and the captain shouts “duck and cover” this I when most of the boat gets destroyed. Captain Jack is a heroic protagonist and so he shows courage in the face of danger. The captain of the ship is very stereotypical as he is in control and bosses the rest of the crew around. There are a lot of close up shots and there is one establishing shot of the ship. The fog creates isolation and this creates suspense. you can tell who the villainous antagonist is the pirates in the other ship. this shows as they are throwing cannons at the other ship.on of the conventions used which makes it a typical AA genre is that when the cannons hit the ship and parts of the ship gets destroyed. the audience is positioned as the officer of the watch as we saw the ship but the officer did not see it.
  2.    Soundtrack- builds suspense and shows there is jeopardy. This also makes the audience sit on the edge of their seat. the drums as well which is dyegetic sound the drum roll is the warning so the people get into position to fight. there is dyegetic when they are trying to get into position, they hear commander shouting at them to move, this builds a picture of fast pace, frantic and frightened atmosphere. Camera work- the camera work is very varied as they have close-ups and they also have long shots and establishing shots, this makes it more AA genre.there was a POV shot when the Captain is looking through the telescope Editing- the editing is very good as you see parts of the ship being destroyed and blown up when the explosion from the cannons hit the ship.Mise-en-scene- the fog, ships and show that it is from ages ago and they seem like pirates.
